Last weekend about thirty of Woodside’s 18 – 30s trucked up to the Frontier Centre in Irthlingborough for the annual BV weekend away.
Past weekends away have included outstanding worship leaders and speakers, and this year was no different. A theme of the weekend was God’s presence and this was evident from the outset. The peace and intimacy of God’s presence were tangible throughout.
On Saturday we were joined by Andy Cross from the Kings Arms who led worship and Matt & Jo Simmonds from CCK, Brighton. It was a real blessing to have them with us. Matt & Jo spoke about ‘Living Under the Cloud’ and ‘Community in the Cloud’. This followed the story of the Israelites when they were in the wilderness and God revealed himself through a cloud by day and fire by night; an assurance of God’s presence, love and leading. Matt & Jo also shared their story as they get ready to move to Amsterdam to start a church plant. It was inspiring to hear how God had been speaking to them over a number of years and how faithful God has been to them. Perhaps Amsterdam will be the venue for our weekend away next year!
As always the weather did not disappoint, which meant Saturday’s walk turned into more of a wade through the flooded ground for those brave enough to venture out. The intrepid explorers were well fed throughout the weekend by George and Jenny Hadley and Ian and Carol Scott, who kindly gave up their time to provide us with a veritable feast.
Despite a late night on Saturday Hudson Ebenezer kept us awake on Sunday morning as he started off his talk with various games that involved making animal noises and thinking up crazy forfeits. The moral of the story was love others as you would love yourself! Thanks Hudson, you served us so well!
All in all it was a brilliant weekend. Thanks to everyone who made it happen. If you are interested in the 18-30s activities at Woodside Church please click here for more information.
